Announcing the beginning of Dhul-Hijjah

Daar Aisha Shariah College

Wed Nov 18, 2009, 5:00 am to Sat Dec 5, 2009, 5:00 am EST

Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatu,

The moon for the month of Dhul-Hijjah was not sighted anywhere in Australia last night, therefore the first of Dhul-Hijjah will be tomorrow (Thursday 19th November) insha'Allah.

The 9th of Dhul-Hijjah which is the day of 'Arafah will therefore be on Friday 27th November. Fasting on this day is a sunna of Rasulullah s.a.w.s. highly rewarded, the reward for which is the forgiveness of the sins of the past year as well as the sins of the oncoming year.[Related by Muslim, from Abu Qatada radiallaahu 'anhu.]

Please note we are to fast the 9th of Dhul-Hijjah in accordance with the moonsighting of one's own country.

If you wish to fast on the Fri. 9th Dhul-Hijjah you will also need to fast Thursday as well since it is not recommended to fast the day of Friday on its own.

'EID AL-ADHA WILL THEREFORE BE ON SATURDAY 28TH NOVEMBER 2009 insha'Allah.

Consequently there will be no classes at Daar Aisha on this day, however Term 4 will now end on Sat. 26th December this being the last day of tuition for 2009 Academic Year.

The virtues of this month as well as the deeds to be performed during these blessed ten days will be further discussed in all classes on Saturday insha'Allah.

May Allah s.w.t. make these ten days and all of our days most blessed filled with abundant Mercy, Forgiveness, Unity and acts of 'Ibadah that are most pleasing to Him.
